Residential Households

A year of residential living to know God better, to live a fraternal life, and to share the experience of the Emmanuel Community.

Some young people in Emmanuel or close to the community want to experience residential life in a household.
This framework of life permits several of them to deepen their relationship with Christ, to experience fraternal charity lived concretely, and to evangelize. The young people commit themselves for a year, which can be renewed.

Community Life at the heart of the Emmanuel Community
The residential household is a place to respond to and discovery more deeply the charism of Emmanuel. It involves participation in praise every morning in the household, presence at a weekly household meeting, participation in community youth activities and the acceptance of responsibility for the household proposed by the Ccommunity.
The role of the person responsible for the household is to oversee the running of the household in general, taking into account the needs of each of its members.
Each person will take care to accept the brothers and sisters as a call to live and grow together for a given time in choosing to love them.
Personal prayer is essential for the members of the household: it is the basis of their unity and allows them to deepen their relationship with Christ. They can then share each week, when they meet as a household, the word of God and the work of God 'Emmanuel', in their daily lives.

Residential Life
The household is a place of Life and requires the regular presence of its members.
Besides, residential community life requires a financial contribution:
- to pay the rent from 1 October to 30 September, or during the school year, other expenses of the apartment, the local charges and the cost of food; an active participation in life together (meetings courses, fullfilling everyday chores...).

A place to shine
The household is also called to shine in the mission by a witness to Christian life through fraternal living, welcome (of course with all the members together), and commitments that are apostolic, personal or common.

The household is generally present and visible in the parish (through daily Mass, adoration, services ...) or in other places of life (Prayer Group or similar).
For its part, the Emmanuel Community is committed to following the members of the residential household.
Lived in this way, a year in a household becomes a fine human and spiritual adventure for each of its members and an opportunity to witness to Christ Emmanuel, present in the world.
